Agent Shumi Babaev, representing the interests of the defender “Philadelphia Cream” Egor Zamula described the negotiations on the hockey player’s new contract with the club as difficult NHL .
The deal with the 24-year-old is for two years. Under the new contract, Zamula’s average annual salary will be $1.7 million.
— The negotiations were very difficult, they lasted a long time. There is a point of comparison with other NHL players, there is an arbitration structure that we helped to address. But since Egor did not play many games, it was difficult in this situation. But we achieved what we wanted. A very good contract. I think it is the best we can get from the club. I am grateful to Philadelphia for making some concessions in our favor. I am happy that Egor is staying there, and he and the club too. In other words, we found a compromise solution that suited everyone. The most important thing is that we agreed and the case did not go to arbitration.
— Is Zamula happy with his role in the team?
“He is pleased with the way he is developing, with the way the coach and managers treat him. We have a close relationship with the general manager and his assistant, we are constantly in touch. The general manager is one of those people who insisted last year that Zamula is an NHL player and should play in the first team. So he got a one-way contract. Everything Philadelphia is doing indicates that they are counting on Yegor in the long term. This is a transitional contract, which gives him the opportunity to win games, and then he can ask for a good deal,” Babaev was quoted as saying by RB Sport.
Zamula played 66 NHL regular season games in the 2023/24 season and scored 21 points (5 goals and 16 assists). On July 1, the Russian was granted restricted free agent status.
