Athletistic / Hockey. International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) President Luc Tardif has responded to the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) decision to become independent from it and the Russian Hockey Federation (RFH). According to him, the IIHF currently has no official information on the matter.
“So far we have no official information on this. Our member is the FHR,” TASS quoted Tardif as saying.
On July 9, the KHL sent a letter to the FHR with a proposal to terminate the agreement on the delegation of rights to host domestic competitions. The League managed to agree with the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation on direct interaction and now intends to gain independence from the FHR and the IIHF. This could, among other things, mean that starting from the 2024/2025 season, KHL clubs will no longer need a transfer card to apply for a new player.
