Athletistic / Hockey. New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin has hinted at a possible contract extension with the American club. The 28-year-old Russian can become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2024/25 season.
“The agents are talking to the (Rangers) management.” Note Athletistic), but I’m not getting involved. I still have one year left on my contract.
How will it affect me if I become the highest paid goalkeeper in the world? How will it be in Russian? (Laughs.) “I don’t really want to get into this topic, let’s let the big guys talk about it. I will have a conversation about this topic, about what I would like to change, what works well, what works badly. It seems to me that when I return to the United States, it will definitely not be a telephone conversation,” Shesterkin said in a video on the Cherkas Atlant YouTube channel.
Earlier, the New York Post published an article stating that Igor Shesterkin could count on a salary of $12 million per year under a new contract. The Russian goalkeeper’s current four-year contract with the Rangers with a salary of $5.66 million per year is valid until June 25, 2025.
