Athletistic / Hockey. New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin spoke about a sensational incident involving a collision with Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov in Game 2 of the second round of the NHL playoffs. The Russians nearly started a fight right on the ice.
“I was just trying to communicate a little in Russian with Svechnikov, nothing special. And Andrei was just silent and trying to provoke someone to hit him and they were going towards each other, Svechnikov apologized and said that he was himself. I didn’t mean to. This is hockey, “everything happens, I understand,” Shesterkin said in a podcast on the Cherkas Atlant YouTube channel.
Following the collision episode with Igor Shesterkin, Andrei Svechnikov was penalized by the referee with a minor penalty (2 minutes) for tripping him. It is interesting to note that immediately after the penalty was taken, the Russian scored an assist. This match ended with the Blue Shirts winning in overtime with a score of 4:3.
