Athletistic / Hockey. The authoritative North American sports publication The Athletic has prepared a ranking of the main contenders for the Hart Memorial Trophy based on the results of the 2024/2025 season. This award is given to the most valuable player of the regular season.
The leader in the ranking was Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid (87.5% of the vote by journalists). Second place went to Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon (6.3%). It is worth noting that he was the one who received the Hart at the end of the 2023/2024 season. Third place was shared by New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes and Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson (3.1% each).
It is worth noting that, according to The Athletic, Russian Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov is not among the contenders for the Hart Trophy. The 31-year-old forward became the NHL’s top regular-season scorer last season and finished second in the Hart voting.
