Hockey club SKA made the right decision to spend the season at the Palais de Glace, because the safety of hockey players and spectators comes first, said the host and correspondent of Dmitry Guberniev .
On Tuesday, SKA announced that in the 2024/25 season it will play its home games at the Ice Palace and not at the new SKA Arena. Earlier, media reports reported a fire at the SKA Arena, which can accommodate 21,500 spectators. According to experts, given the scale of the SKA Arena and the complexity of its fire safety systems, it will take a long time to eliminate the shortcomings and deficiencies, the club said in a statement.
– It is about our safety. This is a healthy decision. SKA wants to do its best. The most important thing is the safety of people: hockey players, spectators. When the shortcomings of the new arena are eliminated, I am sure that the club will return there, – Guberniev told the correspondent.
Last season, SKA was defeated by Avtomobilist (1-4) in the second round of the KHL playoffs.
