Athletistic / Hockey. Famous Russian fitness coach Artur Akulinichev spoke about the form of Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin.
“I never coached Ovechkin, but when I was a specialist, I watched his work and his coach’s training on social media. To do this, I found a few videos on YouTube. At Alexander’s age, the hardest part is maintaining consistency. and rhythm are important in training, nutrition, recovery and mental preparation are the keys to success.
Consistency is not a natural gift, but a habit that an athlete develops over the years. Ovechkin did it and continues to do it. Therefore, Alexander always plays at a high level and one or two mistakes are not a reason to sound the alarm.
“Sport has its ups and downs. It is the falls that shape an athlete. If Ovechkin trains regularly and maintains his physical shape, he will be able to play for a long time, surpass Gretzky’s record and set a new one,” Akulinichev was quoted as saying by Gazeta.Ru.
Alexander Ovechkin made his NHL debut in October 2005. Since then, Washington has made the playoffs 15 times. In the 2023/24 season, the 38-year-old Russian has played 79 regular season games, scoring 31 goals and providing 34 assists. He has 853 NHL goals, making him the second-leading scorer in league history.
