Canadian hockey player “Dynamo” Maxime Comtois said he was not afraid of condemnation and criticism after his transfer to Dynamo Moscow.
Dynamo announced on Thursday the signing of the 25-year-old Canadian forward to a one-year contract.
– Now is a difficult time. Not everyone agrees to go to the KHL. Coming to Russia, weren’t you afraid of condemnation and criticism for this?
“I don’t care what they say about me.” My wife and I did some research. The club is great, the league is great, the living conditions in Moscow are great. We quickly made a decision. I’m a young player, I want to learn and develop. I see this year as an opportunity to become better. I have only the best impressions from Russia.
The KHL is a well-known league in North America and is often talked about. It is not for nothing that it is considered the second best league in the world. There are many players here who can play in the NHL. I am not coming here on vacation. I will have to work a lot, even more than the Russians. Before the move, I consulted with different players. Vitaly Abramov wrote to me today and congratulated me,” the correspondent reports Comtois’ words.
Comtois was selected 50th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. The NHL forward also played for the Carolina Hurricanes. In total, he played 211 games in the league’s regular season championships and scored 87 points (38 goals and 49 assists).
As a member of the Canadian national team, Comtois won gold and silver at the world championships.
