– In these matches, it was important to instill in the guys a taste for the game. So that they understand: hockey is a game, not a profession. There are still a lot of things we want to fix. We strive to make the movement with the puck, the “thought movement” much faster. Guys’ legs are running, but I want it to be in tune with the thinking needed to play more spectacular hockey. And the fact that the guys score a lot is the result of the work of all five, of everyone on the ice. It doesn’t matter who scores and how they do it. The main thing is that the team plays, and we expect everyone to have fun and surprise us with their unpredictability.
Not in favor of drawing conclusions from the matches played. They were friendly matches, and the main thing is not to watch the result, but the match. Many supporters come to watch the games. It is important to us that the guys play competently, correctly, fervently and compactly and give pleasure to the public. Hockey players understand that they play in the real hockey “hall of fame” of Nizhny Novgorod and Gorky. They know the traditions. They need to be supported and to understand how important it is for hockey fans to see a good and interesting team in action.
I’m not a fan of talking about how many we scored and how many we didn’t score in previous games, as well as how much we could have conceded. But it is important that trust goes through objectives. For a lot of guys, those were the team’s first games. And it was important to start them on a good note, to get a taste of the goals they score. When guys start scoring, it leads to team harmony. We don’t expect a single link to “drag” us into the season. It is important for us that the four links can participate in the attack and obtain the result.
