Former General Manager “Chicago” Stan Bowman has taken over as general manager and executive vice president of hockey operations. Edmonton Oilers reports the NHL club’s press service.
Last season, the Oilers reached the Stanley Cup Final, but lost to Florida 3-4 in the series finale. After the season ended, it became known that the club would not renew the contract of Ken Holland, who was previously general manager.
Bowman spent 20 years with the Chicago Blackhawks, including 12 years as general manager. Under him, the club won the Stanley Cup three times (2010, 2013 and 2015).
He resigned from the club in October 2021 after learning that Chicago’s top brass failed to conduct a prompt and thorough investigation after being brought to their attention a controversial incident: the sexual assault of former Chicago player Kyle Beach in 2010 by a stranger. Brad Aldrich, the Hawks’ former video coach.
Stan Bowman is the son of Hockey Hall of Famer and nine-time Stanley Cup-winning coach Scotty Bowman.
