Michkov called reaching the NHL playoffs his main goal for his first season in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Forward Matvey Mishkov said that in his first NHL season he intended to help the Flyers reach the playoffs.

Michkov was chosen Leaflets seventh overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. In July, the club signed the 19-year-old Russian to a three-year, entry-level contract.

“I hope I can bring some young blood to the team.” I’m going to try to score as many goals as possible and help the team win every game so that the Philadelphia fans have more and more fun.

“My main goal is to get to the playoffs with Philadelphia and reach the highest possible position in the standings. Of course, I have personal goals, but I keep them to myself and I’m not ready to talk about them yet, but these goals are the highest,” Michkov said at a press conference.

Michkov played for SKA Saint Petersburg and Sochi last season in the Kontinental Hockey League. In total, the forward played 47 games and scored 41 points (19 goals and 22 assists).
