Athletistic / Hockey. Vancouver Canucks forward Vasily Podkolzin shared his attitude toward the possible return of forward Evgeny Kuznetsov to the KHL. The 32-year-old Russian terminated his contract with the Carolina Hurricanes last week and became an unrestricted free agent in the NHL.
“To be honest, I was upset that Kuznetsov went to the KHL. I took the match number 92 because Evgeniy played under it, and then Volodya Tkachev came to SKA. I took the 92nd for myself.
I always wanted to be at least a little like Kuznetsov. He has incredible potential, what a skill! I am very sorry. I think he has not said his last word in the NHL yet. When he arrived in Carolina, he integrated well into his new team, scored 6 points in 10 Stanley Cup games and scored four goals. But since this is his decision, now we must support Kuznetsov. For me, he is a player of the highest class. Evgeiy is one of the best Russian center forwards,” Podkolzin was quoted as saying by Match TV.
Evgeny Kuznetsov played for the main team of Traktor from 2009 to 2014. In 251 games with the Bears, he scored 167 goals (78+89). Kuznetsov has been playing in the NHL since March 2014. For 10 years he was a player of the Washington Capitals, but finished the 2023/2024 season in Carolina. Note that in the summer of 2017, Traktor traded his rights in the KHL to SKA St. Petersburg.
