Agent of a Russian hockey player “Columbus” Kirill Marchenko Dan Milstein told his client’s new contract was “unprecedented.”
Marchenko, 24, signed a new three-year contract with Columbus that will see him earn an average of $3.85 million per season. In July, the Russian was one of 14 NHL players to file for arbitration to determine his contract salary.
“This is an unprecedented contract for a player in such a situation. It’s also good that we managed to avoid arbitration by reaching an amicable agreement with the club. Kirill is happy to play for the Blue Jackets for the next three years,” Milshtein told .
Marchenko played 137 NHL games, scoring 67 (44+23) points. The total amount of $11.55 million is a record contract for a hockey player who played so few games in the league.
