Radulov revealed details of transition to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl

Russian attacker Alexander Radulov explained why he decided to continue his career in Yaroslavl “Lokomotiv” .

Radulov signed a one-year contract with Yaroslavl in June.

— There are no special secrets. It’s just that my contract with Ak Bars expired. Some time passed, I realized that I would not stay there. He entered the free agent market and received an offer from Yaroslavl. I accepted with pleasure. I liked the city and the team here. I had a little experience as a teenager when I was here, it’s nice to be back.

I haven’t had time to drive around the city yet. I got to know a lot of guys, I met some of them at CSKA and before that in the national teams: Max Shalunov and Sergei Andronov. We met Pasha Kraskovsky and went on vacation together from Turkey on the same plane. We worked with Igor Valerievich (Nikitin), we talked yesterday and before the signing.

What are the expectations? The team played in the final that year, but it was just a bit short. We hope that this year, through joint efforts, we will be able to achieve the goal that everyone wants and sets for themselves: the Gagarin Cup. There can be no other tasks.

— What role will you have in the team?

– Go out and work on the ice, prove to yourself and the fans that you deserve to play here. The most important thing is that the team wins. Then everyone will be happy: the management and coaches, players and fans, especially. The number one task is to attend every match and win,” Radulov said in a video posted on Lokomotiv’s Telegram channel.

Last season, Radulov, 37, played for Ak Bars and scored 40 (16+24) points in 58 KHL regular season games, adding 4 (1+3) points in four playoff games.

Previously, Radulov, 38, played in Russia for CSKA and Salavat Yulaev of Ufa, and also played in the NHL for Nashville, Montreal and Dallas. As a member of the Russian national team, he became a two-time world champion.
