Athletistic / Hockey. SKA rookie striker Evgeny Kuznetsov has explained why he agreed to join SKA. In addition to the St. Petersburg club, his native Chelyabinsk Traktor have claimed the 32-year-old Russian.
“I am not ready to go to Chelyabinsk yet. Not so much to Traktor, but the city itself – it would be very difficult for me there, it would be a sharp step to leave Washington via Raleigh directly to Chelyabinsk. I am absolutely not against Traktor, I do not have it. This is my home, but now I have made a very difficult decision in psychological terms,” Kuznetsov was quoted as saying by Match TV.
The day before, on July 31, the SKA press service announced the conclusion of a four-year contract with Evgeny Kuznetsov. He will become one of the highest paid players in the KHL.
Evgeny Kuznetsov graduated from Chelyabinsk Traktor. In 251 games for his hometown club, the forward scored 167 (78+89) points using the goal+assist system. Kuznetsov has been playing in the NHL since March 2014. He was a player for the Washington Capitals for 10 years, but finished the 2023/2024 season in Carolina. Note that since 2017, the rights to him in the KHL belong to SKA.
