Dynamo Minsk hockey player Alexei Emelin talked about the experience of working with a Canadian coach Bob Hartley in Omsk “Avant-garde” .
“Dynamo” announced the transfer of the 36-year-old Russian defender to the team on July 29. The contract between the parties is for one season. Emelin played for Avangard from 2018 to 2022.
“Are you tired of Hartley’s methods in four years? Some players and the season with Bob could not stand it.
– I’m not tired. For me, his methods were a plus. Bob has great discipline. It’s just. I think where there are high results, there should be a place of high discipline. Hartley is a systematic person, he had a lot of demands, but they were all straight to the point and brought us success.
– Do I understand that Hartley was a meticulous trainer and that someone was annoyed?
Yes, he was meticulous. Again, I say: it wasn’t always practical, but it worked. When we have done everything, we have won.
– You came to Hartley as a trained player with plenty of experience. Did Bob reveal anything to you?
– In principle, I have always played with systemic coaches. They always had discipline and a strict system. Take Piotr Ilyich Vorobyov or Zinetula Khaidyarovich Bilyaletdinov. They all just have a different view of this system on ice, but in general they are very similar, – said Emelin in an interview with Sport24.
In the 2021/22 season, the defender played in 43 KHL regular season games, scoring 8 (2+6) points. In the playoffs for 13 games, he scored 5 (2 + 3) points.
