52% of club representatives supported the participation of KHL players in the national team, 38% voted against and 10% abstained.
“Based on the results of the investigation, it was decided that the national team should participate in tournaments with the strongest possible team, regardless of the players’ club affiliation. This will allow the national team coaches to have complete freedom in team selection,” the Slovak Hockey Federation said in a statement.
It is also worth noting that at the end of August 2024, the Slovak national team will take part in the Olympic qualifiers for the 2026 Games, where they will face the teams of Austria, Hungary and Kazakhstan.
