Head coach of Metallurg Andrei Razin told that the contract extension with him is proof that the club’s management believes in the coach and appreciates the team’s success.
“Metallurgist” announced on Friday the extension of the contract with Razin for another year – until the end of the 2025/26 season.
— How did you react when Metallurg offered you a new contract?
– It was an excellent option. Who would refuse good contractual conditions? We have a good team and high goals. In Magnitogorsk, everything is done for hockey, I already know everything here. I was very pleased to see and hear this proposal. I accepted it with pleasure.
— You had a contract for next year…
– …and I received a contract for another season 2025/26.
– With a promotion?
— Yes, and I am glad that our victory in the Gagarin Cup was so appreciated.
– What does that give you? Two more years of stability?
“This is support that is important not only for the hockey player, but also for the coach. I am glad that they trust me so much. And this is of course stability. A sign that they believe in me. And all my decisions last year were understood and accepted by the club management,” Razin told .
Razin took over as head of Metallurg in April 2023 and in his first season led Magnitogorsk to victory in the Gagarin Cup. In the final, Metallurg defeated Lokomotiv Yaroslavl with a 4-0 series score. At the season closing ceremony, Razin was recognized as the best coach in the KHL.
The next KHL season begins on September 3 with the opening match of the Cup between Metallurg and Lokomotiv.
