Kuznetsov on his move to SKA: “I put everything on the line. I want the kids to see how dad can really play.”

Attack Evgeny Kuznetsov told that by joining SKA he wanted to prove to himself and his family that he was still ready to play at a high level.

The St. Petersburg club announced the signing of Kuznetsov to a four-year contract on July 31. Previously, the 32-year-old forward played for Chelyabinsk Traktor, NHL clubs Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes.

“First of all, I wanted my great-grandmother, parents, wife and children to see me really play hockey, because in recent years I have not managed to please them. There were times when I did not even want them to come to the games. I did not feel comfortable with the fact that my children would see me fail. I was worried about it. Now I have put everything on the line. I want the children to see how dad can really play,” Kuznetsov said on the “Gromko” program of the channel.

The new KHL season starts on September 3. In its first match of the new championship, SKA will play on September 5 away against the winner of the Gagarin Cup, Magnitogorsk Metallurg.
