RUSADA’s Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee (DAC) has lifted the temporary suspension of Ufa hockey players “Tolpara” in doping tests, traces of meldonium were found, reports the press service of the law firm Clover Consult, which represented the interests of the athletes.
In April last year, RUSADA announced that it was investigating seven positive doping tests among Tolpara players, in whose samples meldonium was found. In August 2023, the Ufa club announced that the Investigative Commission had opened a case regarding the discovery of doping among hockey players. On February 29, 2024, the RUSADA Anti-Doping Disciplinary Commission (DAC) recognized that seven Tolpara players had violated anti-doping rules and disqualified the athletes for one year, including the period of temporary suspension.
On July 17, RUSADA announced that it had suspended 10 more Tolpara hockey players due to traces of meldonium in doping tests.
— The hearings at DAK RUSADA were difficult and extremely intense. Our lawyers prepared a detailed legal position, which proved in a detailed and coherent manner the disproportionate nature of the measure applied to hockey players and contained, among other things, references to previous positions of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This trial involved arguments supported by a wide variety of evidence.
Following the hearings, DAK RUSADA members accepted the position presented by our lawyers and lifted the temporary suspension of all the guys,” Clever Consult said in a statement.
