Athletistic / Hockey. Noted North American insider Mark Madden says Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin will opt out of the final year of his NHL contract and leave for Russia in the summer of 2025. The 38-year-old Russian has played for the Penguins since the fall of 2006.
“I was told that after this upcoming season Malkin will be leaving for Russia, opting out of the final year of his contract with Pittsburgh, I bet Sidney Crosby already knows about it,” Madden wrote on social media.
Evgeni Malkin responded to this information in an interview with The Athletic, claiming that Madden is spreading lies.
Evgeni Malkin is a three-time Stanley Cup winner. The Russian has a Hart Trophy, two Art Ross Trophies, a Ted Lindsay Award, a Conn Smythe Trophy and a Calder Trophy to his name. The forward is a graduate of Metallurg, for which he played from 2003 to 2006, as well as during the NHL lockout – from September 2012 to January 2013.
