“Shesterkin can rightfully become the highest-paid goaltender in the NHL” – Cory Schneider

Former New Jersey and Vancouver goalie Corey Schneider said he believed Igor Shesterkin New York Rangers, one of the best goalies in the National Hockey League (NHL) today.

Previously, the Russian was ranked first in the NHL Network’s ranking of the best goalkeepers. Russians also enter the top 10 Andrei Vasilievsky (“Tampa”, 3rd place), Ilya Sorokin (Islanders, 5th place) and Sergei Bobrovsky (“Florida”, 7th place).

“It would be fair if he became the highest-paid goalie in the NHL.” Even when he’s not at his best, he can turn things around. Just take and shut down your opponent, and it seems to come very easily to him. Shesterkin also played well in the last Stanley Cup,” Sportskeeda quoted Schneider as saying.

Shesterkin has been playing for the Rangers since 2019, his contract with a salary of $5.6 million runs until the end of the 2024/25 season. Last season, he played 55 games in the NHL regular season (91.3% of shots saved) and 16 games in the playoffs (92.7%).

In 2022, Shesterkin received the Vezina Trophy, awarded annually to the NHL’s best goaltender.
