Ovechkin is a three-time world champion as a member of the Russian national team. With the Capitals, the Russian forward won the Stanley Cup in the 2017/18 season. Ovechkin played for Dynamo from 2001 to 2005 and in the 2012-2013 season during the NHL lockout.
