Athletistic / Hockey. Legendary Russian hockey player Pavel Bure, a member of the NHL Hall of Fame, said that his 11-year-old son went to study at the Suvorov School. According to Bure, this was Pavel Bure Jr.’s wish.
“By the way, it was very difficult to enter the Suvorov School. The competition there is more than 10 people per place. However, my son went through all the training camps, passed all the exams and was accepted there.” The inscription, signed by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, was read to him personally by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces, General of the Army Oleg Salyukov.
“Going to study at the Suvorov School was the choice of the son himself, and we only supported him. Pavel said that from an early age he wanted to prepare to serve Russia,” Bure Sr. was quoted as saying by Match TV.
Pavel Bure, as part of the USSR and Russian national teams, became a world champion and won a silver and bronze medal at the Olympic Games. In the NHL, the “Russian Rocket” played for the Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers and New York Rangers. Bure was the general manager of the Russian national hockey team at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin (Italy). He is currently a member of the board of directors of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
