American rookie “Vanguard” Alex Broadhurst compared the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with the Finnish league and the Russian language with Finnish.
The last two seasons the 29-year-old Broadhurst has spent in the Finnish HIFK. His contract with “Avant-garde” designed for one season.
– KHL is stronger than Finnish league, skill is higher. I’ve only played one game so far, so I’m still getting used to it. But there are a lot of good players here, it’s not easy to play in this league. I know that this year the number of games has increased to 68, the schedule is busy, like in the NHL. But I’m happy with the new challenge, I hope I’ll have a good season.
So far I know only one word in Russian – “thank you”. I try to learn words every day, guys help me. After Finnish, Russian is not so difficult? Oh my God! Russian is not even close, Finnish is much worse. Crazy language, some words and letters are just plain baffling. I tried to learn as many words as possible, but I could only say hello, hello, thank you, just the simplest things. Very difficult language, – quote the words of Broadhurst “Championship”.
