KHL changes rule to score points in overtime if goalie is replaced by a field player

At a correspondence meeting, the KHL Board of Directors adopted amendments to the league regulations, the KHL press service reports.

One of the innovations is the points system based on the results of overtime matches in the KHL championship.

Starting in the 2024/2025 season, if a team replaces the goaltender with an extra skater in overtime and misses the puck in their own net, then that team will not receive any points for the game.

The exception to this rule is when the goalkeeper has been replaced by an additional field player under the delayed penalty rule.

The new season of the Kontinental Hockey League begins on September 3.
