“Admiral ” has terminated the contract of striker Austin Ortega, the club’s press service reports.
The agreement with the 30-year-old American hockey player was terminated at the initiative of the Vladivostok club.
Ortega signed a one-year contract with Admiral on May 24. He has not played any official matches for the Russian team.
— It’s a tough decision for us. We were really counting on Austin. The documents and data on the hockey player prepared by our analysts over the summer indicated that he should become a player of the first two lines, aiming for goals and able to add creativity to the attack. Unfortunately, we didn’t see that in training camp. Yes, maybe he didn’t have enough time, but we can’t take that risk: by leaving aside a well-paid player, giving him time to develop, the foreign player must show results here and now.
“If you delay the dismissal, it will cost more and it will not have a good effect on the atmosphere in the team, the guys see everything. That is why we made this decision and have already found an experienced winger with whom we will sign a contract in the near future,” said the sports director of HC “Admiral” Pavel Zhitkov.
For the past three seasons, the forward has played in the German league for Red Bull Munich. Last season, the forward made 51 appearances in which he scored 21 goals and provided 14 assists.
