Athletistic / Hockey. Tatyana Ovechkina, a two-time Olympic basketball champion and mother of Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin, has shared her thoughts on her son’s possible return to Russia. Earlier, the 38-year-old Russian hockey player admitted that he would like to play the last game of his career for Dynamo Moscow.
“Someday there will probably come a time when Sasha will return to Russia. But I will say that it will be his decision that will determine when and how to make this turn in his life: whether he needs it or not. “I have absolutely no influence on this. “Believe me, the most important thing he needs here is the support of Sasha, who has a very good wife, who always helps him in everything,” Match TV quoted Tatiana Ovechkina as saying.
Alexander Ovechkin has scored 853 goals in his NHL regular season career. He is now 41 goals away from Gretzky’s record of 894. The 38-year-old Russian’s contract with the Washington Capitals is valid for two more seasons. He is a graduate of Dynamo, with whom he became the Russian champion and winner of the Gagarin Cup.
