Beginner “Torpedo” defender Vyacheslav Voynov said that the initiator of his transition to the Nizhny Novgorod team was the head coach Igor Larionov.
In late July, Torpedo signed 34-year-old Voinov to a one-year contract.
— Nizhny Novgorod was surprisingly pleasant. I have not yet managed to get used to the new place, I am in the process of doing it. Therefore, in the near future we will have to solve these problems, for example, find an apartment.
The proposal came from Igor Nikolaevich (Larionov). We met with him, discussed all the points, my role and how he sees me, and came to a common denominator. I really liked it.
— Don’t you miss Kazan? Can’t you go back?
— Kazan is a cool city. Everything is fine, but this page is already in the past. “I don’t look back,” Voinov said on the air of the program “Everyone for the match!” on the channel.
Voinov spent the last two seasons in the KHL with Ak Bars. The defenseman scored 55 points (12 goals and 43 assists) in 124 games for the Kazan team. Voinov is an Olympic champion and two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Los Angeles Kings.
The new season of the FONBET KHL Championship starts on September 3.
