Nashville Predators NHL general manager Barry Trotz commented on media reports that the Russian goaltender Yaroslav Askarov interested in leaving the club.
Earlier, journalist Kevin Weeks reported on a social network that Askarov had informed Nashville that he did not want to play in the American Hockey League (AHL) and had requested a trade to another team.
“We are aware of what was released today and expect the player to arrive at training camp and prove himself in September,” reporter John Glennon quoted Trotz as saying on social media.
Askarov was selected by Nashville with the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft. He has been playing in the club system since 2022. Last season in the AHL, the 22-year-old played 44 regular season games and averaged 91.1% shooting per game. In the NHL, Askarov has played three games and recorded one win.
