The “Sochi” striker said that he had never fought on the ice

Offensive “Sochi” Dmitry Zavgorodniy said that in his hockey career there was not a single fight on the ice.

“There was no fighting at all. On the ice he did other things: he gave assists, scored goals, tried to create chances and was creative. He is beaten, probably, only for children, everyone had skirmishes there. When I went to professional hockey, it was all over. You have to think with your head, you can meet a badass and get hurt.

If I have to fight, I’m ready. Of course, I have slightly different tasks on the ice, other goals, but in any case I can defend myself and the team,” Zavgorodniy said in an interview with Sport24.

Zavgorodniy began his career with the Omsk Hawks, then played in Canada for the “Rimuski” team of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (LHJMQ), the Saint Petersburg SKA, the American Hockey League club (AHL) “Stockton Heat”. In June, the 21-year-old hockey player signed a contract with Sochi.

Earlier, the match between Sochi and Avangard at the Sochi Hockey Open pre-season tournament began with a massive brawl of hockey players, which drew a lot of criticism from southerners.
