Athletistic / Hockey. Edmonton Oilers rookie forward Vasily Podkolzin said his trade to the Oilers came as a shock to him. The 23-year-old Russian previously played in the NHL for the Vancouver Canucks.
“Yes, of course, the trade to Edmonton was a shock for me. There was no conversation about it, I found out after the fact, my wife and I were driving to the store, and when the general manager from Vancouver called me, I already started guessing. He told me I had been traded and wished me good luck,” Podkolzin said according to Sport-Express.
Vasily Podkolzin was traded to Edmonton on the night of August 19. During the 2023/2024 season, the Russian played 19 games in the NHL regular season and scored 2 assists. He also played 44 games and 28 (15+13) points in the “goal + assist” system for the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL during the last campaign.
