Athletistic / Hockey. Nashville Predators general manager Barry Trotz has responded to goaltender Yaroslav Askarov’s trade request. The 22-year-old Russian does not want to start the season in the AHL.

“We are aware of Yaroslav’s request, but we expect him to report to training camp and compete for a roster spot in September,” Trotz was quoted as saying by the Nashville Post.

Yaroslav Askarov was selected by Nashville in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft, 11th overall. The Russian left for North America at the age of 19. In the two seasons spent in the United States, Askarov managed to play only three games in the NHL, and the goaltender spent the rest of the time in the AHL with the Milwaukee Admirals. It is worth noting that last season, Askarov became the second goaltender in the entire league in terms of basic indicators.
