Athletistic/Hockey. Washington Capitals general manager Chris Patrick weighed in on Alexander Ovechkin’s chances of breaking Wayne Gretzky’s NHL goalscoring record this coming season.

“Ovechkin is doing things that many couldn’t even predict, so breaking Gretzky’s record this season is entirely possible,” Patrick told the NHL’s official website.

Last season, Alexander Ovechkin, 38, played 79 regular-season games in the National Hockey League, recording 31 goals and 34 assists. Over his NHL career, he has 853 goals and 697 assists in 1,426 games. He is 41 goals shy of Wayne Gretzky’s NHL scoring record.
