Athletistic/Hockey. Slovak Hockey Federation President Miroslav Shatan has responded sharply to criticism from local journalists who questioned the organization’s decision to invite KHL hockey players.

“The law does not prohibit inviting KHL players to the national team. Your morals are your morals, others may have different ones. We work for the whole country, regardless of political views or religious beliefs. Our task is to represent the whole of Slovakia.

I advise you to focus more on sports journalism and criticism of sports aspects, and not to get involved in politics, because you are sports journalists.

Today, some journalists are only chasing clicks and likes, forgetting about our work. If you don’t want to help, at least don’t intervene and don’t spread lies.

Let me give you a metaphor: if someone voluntarily decides to paint a fence in a kindergarten, you should not come and kick a can of paint. Just pass by. Don’t do it for clicks and attention. A young journalist may need attention, but don’t write nonsense. Think before you ask questions, “Sport Aktuality quotes Shatan.

  • KHL players have been called up to the Slovak national team for the first time since March 2023 to take part in the 2026 Olympics qualifiers
