“It will be difficult for all opponents to face Traktor in the new KHL season” – Kaempfer

American defender “Tractors” Stephen Kaempfer appreciated the performance of the Chelyabinsk club in the pre-season Blinov Cup in Omsk.

“Traktor” at the tournament beat Omsk “Avangard” (5:2), Novosibirsk “Sibir” (3:0) and Astana “Barys” (4:2), and also lost to Yaroslavl “Lokomotiv” (4:5, B).

— Now we are getting used to the system that Benoit Grou is putting in place. We still have a home tournament ahead of us, where we will continue to learn and improve in order to be ready for the first match of the championship.

— Can we say that Traktor is now playing North American hockey?

– Yes. Given Ben’s experience and successful work in North America, it is easy for him to implement this system here. We will play the full 60 minutes of the match and it will be difficult for any opponent to resist us.

— Are you personally comfortable playing this type of hockey?

— I’ve been playing this style all my life. Some things are different, but it won’t be difficult for me to adapt at all.

— Was it unexpected that you were named captain for the match against Lokomotiv?

“Even in a pre-season tournament, receiving the ‘C’ patch is an honour for me. It’s a special feeling, but at the same time you have to keep playing hockey. There are a lot of guys in our team who deserve to be captain. The head coach is now interested in the leadership qualities of each individual. Many members of the team had already been captains and assistants. It’s good when there is a group of guys you can rely on and who are able to motivate the team properly,” quotes Kämpfer from RB Sport.

The new season of the FONBET KHL Championship starts on September 3. Traktor will start the tournament on the 4th with a match in Yekaterinburg against Avtomobilist.
