“To be honest, I think he will score 25 goals this season and another 20 next season. Therefore, I would say the record will be broken in December 2025,” Fehervari told The Athletic.
Washington partner Rasmus Sandin was surprised by this statement.
“In December 2025? I don’t understand what happened to Fehervari. Ovechkin will do it first,” Sandin said.
Last NHL season, Ovechkin, 38, played 79 regular-season games, scoring 31 goals and 34 assists. Over his league career, he has 853 goals and 697 assists in 1,426 appearances. Ovechkin remains 41 goals shy of Wayne Gretzky’s record.
