General Director of Nizhny Novgorod “Torpedo” Alexander Kharlamov said that participation in the Moscow Mayor’s Cup would be a good test for his team before the start of the KHL season, and also noted that the team’s head coach Igor Larionov supported the idea of participating in the pre-season tournament in the capital.
The Mayor’s Cup will be held at the Megasport Sports Palace from August 29 to September 1. The tournament will bring together Spartak, Dynamo (Moscow), CSKA, Vityaz, as well as, for the first time in history, Torpedo and Avtomobilist.
— We, as beginners, would like to thank the organizers for the invitation. The Moscow Mayor’s Cup is a competition in which some of the strongest clubs in the league participate. This is a good test for us before the season. Igor Larionov usually does not like pre-season tournaments, but participation in the Mayor’s Cup did not cause him any questions,” the correspondent reports, citing Kharlamov’s words.
The new season of the FONBET KHL Championship starts on September 3.
