Team Latvia beat the team in hockey France during the match of the fourth stage of the qualifications for the 2026 Olympic Games.
The match took place in Riga and ended with a score of 5:2 (2:1, 3:0, 0:1) in favor of the Latvian hockey players. They scored nine points in three games and took first place in Group E, thus winning a ticket to the 2026 Olympic Games. The teams of Slovenia and Ukraine also played in the quartet.
The question of the Russian team’s participation in the 2026 Games remains open. If admitted, the national hockey players will play in the group stage with the American team and two teams that won the qualifying tournaments.
In 2026, the Winter Olympics will take place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
