Swedish hockey club “MODO” appealed to fans asking them to help them financially acquire their student Matthias Norlinder playing for Montreal.
The 24-year-old hockey player, who started his career at MODO at youth level, is staying fit at his local club during the off-season. The Swedish press service reported that the club and the defender have a mutual interest in starting an official cooperation.
“We have been communicating well for a long time, and now Matias has expressed his willingness to return home and play for MODO again. We would really like to have him in the team, but at the moment we do not have enough funds (to offer a contract). So, we are calling for help from all the club’s supporters. I believe we can solve this problem together,” quotes website Words “MODO” from sports director Henrik Gradin.
Through crowdfunding, MODO hopes to raise one million Swedish crowns (about 9 million rubles).
Norlinder was selected by Montreal in the third round of the 2019 NHL draft. Since then, he has played six NHL games, scoring one point, and has spent most of his career overseas with the Laval Rocket, the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate.
