ROC expressed its condolences to the family and friends of Vladimir Bure and Alexander Fetisov

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) expressed its condolences to the family and friends of Pavel and Valery Bure’s father Vladimir and the father of two-time Olympic hockey champion Vyacheslav Fetisov Alexander.

Vladimir Bure died Tuesday in Miami at the age of 73. The death of Alexander Fetissov at the age of 92 was announced Wednesday.

“The Russian Olympic Committee expresses its condolences to the relatives, friends and colleagues of Vladimir Valerievich and Alexander Maksimovich,” a message on the ROC Telegram channel said.

Vladimir Bure is a three-time Olympic silver and bronze medalist in swimming, a two-time World Championship silver medalist and a European relay champion. He also served as the strength and conditioning coach for the New Jersey Devils, during which time the club won the Stanley Cup twice.

Both sons of Alexander Fetisov – Anatoly and Vyacheslav – became hockey players. Vyacheslav Fetisov is a multiple USSR champion with CSKA, a two-time Olympic winner and a two-time Stanley Cup winner, Anatoly Fetisov also played for the military team.
