Athletistic / Hockey. Ak Bars forward Alexander Barabanov compared KHL and NHL hockey. The 30-year-old Russian returned to Russia from North America last summer.
“Of course, there are differences in KHL and NHL hockey. We can talk about it for a long time. In North America, decisions are made faster and there are more power plays. However, the defenders are stronger there. “In the NHL, they punish mistakes immediately,” Barabanov said, as quoted by Championship.
In the previous four seasons, Alexander Barabanov played in the NHL: first for the Toronto Maple Leafs, then for the San Jose Sharks. Last campaign, the Russian, being part of the NHL regular season “sharks”, scored 13 (4+9) points using the “goal+assist” system.
Barabanov graduated from SKA. He left the KHL in 2020. On July 31, he signed a two-year contract with Ak Bars.
