Athletistic / Hockey. Pittsburgh Penguins captain and forward Sidney Crosby intends to extend his contract with the Penguins before the start of the new NHL season. The 37-year-old Canadian’s current contract with Pittsburgh expires at the end of the 2024/25 season.
“Will I spend the new season without a new contract? No, definitely not, I’m very optimistic about that. The signing of a new contract will happen soon. I don’t know the exact day it will happen, but all our negotiations have been very positive,” Crosby said, according to the Penguins’ press service.
Sidney Crosby was selected by Pittsburgh with the first overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. In October of that year, the Canadian was playing for the Penguins. He won three Stanley Cups with Pittsburgh.
Crosby had one of his best seasons in years. Last campaign, he played in all 82 regular season games and scored 94 (42+52) points using the goal+assist system. However, that didn’t help his team qualify for the playoffs.
