Dynamo Moscow striker Nikita Gusev said he would sign a contract with a National Hockey League (NHL) club if he played a significant role on the team.
It was previously reported that the 32-year-old hockey player was planning to find an NHL job during the offseason, but had not found any options. Gusev spent “Dynamo” 2023/24 season, becoming the KHL’s top scorer. In August, Gusev signed a new deal with the Blue and White for one season.
— Let’s be clear, you don’t just want to play in the NHL, do you? We’re talking specifically about a one-sided contract and a spot in one of the top two teams. You won’t accept other conditions yourself?
– Yes, that’s true. It’s important for me to play my hockey and show my best qualities on the ice. That’s why I’m at Dynamo now.
— Have you not considered other KHL clubs in principle? You are a free agent.
— We spent last season, although not ideal, but overall quite well. And personally, I am happy with everything at Dynamo. Therefore, we did not think about other clubs, “Gusev is quoted as saying by the press service of Dynamo.
During his career, Gusev played in the NHL for New Jersey and Florida, playing a total of 97 league games with 54 (17+37) points. In the KHL, the forward played for CSKA, Amur, Yugra and SKA.
