“Hockey players are not boys. They knew they were committing a crime” – Kozhevnikov on Vorobyov’s confession of buying a military ID card

St. Petersburg SKA striker Mikhail Vorobiev who pleaded guilty in the case of having paid a bribe to an official, understood that he was committing a crime, this whole story does not paint Russian hockey, the double Olympic champion told Alexander Kojevnikov .

In July three Russian hockey players were caught trying to pay a bribe to be exempted from conscription into the army, criminal case documents were filed in court of the Leninsky district of Ufa. The court received elements of criminal cases under part 4 of article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (bribe) against Vorobyov, Anvar Suleimanov and the attacker Admiral Vladislav Lukin.

– It’s a shame that happened. Misha is a good, talented player, but it’s probably up to the agents to keep an eye on their wards. Climbing in this mud is none of my business. They (the hockey players) knew what they were getting into. It’s a crime. For hockey, all this is bad, and these are not little boys. They are the creators of their own happiness.

It seems to me that we need to make a new law … Create sports societies so that players do not worry, but do everything legally, – said Kozhevnikov.

The 25-year-old striker has been playing for SKA since 2021. Last season he made 57 appearances for the St. Petersburg club and scored 27 points (7+20) with an efficiency indicator of +19.
