Athletistic / Hockey. KHL vice-president, Stanley Cup winner and Olympic champion Valery Kamensky says Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin will do everything he can this coming season to overtake Wayne Gretzky in the pursuit of the title of best sniper in NHL history.
“I think Ovechkin will be pushing hard to break Wayne Gretzky’s record this coming season. There’s nothing unrealistic about that, given that Alexander has repeatedly surpassed the 50-goal mark in a regular season.
“In addition, Washington has seriously strengthened itself in the summer. Stolychnye have definitely become stronger. The club’s management has done a good job, and Ovechkin is able to work at the same level with absolutely any partner, since he has gone through a great school during his career,” Kamensky said according to RT.
