Hockey agent and expert Alexei Dementiev has urged people to ignore recent statements by NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly, who suggested that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) would not allow the Russian team to compete in the 2026 Olympics.
The Russian national team, by decision of the International Ice Hockey Federation, missed the world championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Daly believes that the team will not be allowed to participate in the hockey tournament of the 2026 Games.
“Honestly, I would stop paying attention to these statements and all these conversations about whether they were allowed in or not. All this creates additional noise that we absolutely do not need. We need to focus on our tasks, on the education and development of hockey players, on the growth of the professional coaching staff. This will bring us success in any case. There will come a time when we will have to play against these opponents, and then we will have to be the best and show that they are making a mistake right now. Therefore, I would not pay attention to all these statements and I would not knock on all these doors until they call us,” Dementyev told RB Sport.
