Former striker “Washington” Steven Peete has died at the age of 44, the NHL Alumni Association announced on social media.
It is worth noting that Pete died from injuries sustained in the accident. According to media reports, the former hockey player was hit by a car about two weeks ago.
Pete was drafted 32nd overall by Anaheim in 1998 and was traded to Washington in 2000. The Canadian played 130 games for the capital team in the NHL regular season, during which he scored 10 (8 goals + 2 assists) points. In 2005, he played on the same team as Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin. Pete retired from acting in 2007.
