Russian Islanders goalie Sorokin injured, but will be ready for start of season – club GM

General manager New York Islanders Lou Lamoriello reported that the Russian goalie Ilya Sorokin suffered an upper-body injury this summer, but will be ready for the start of the new NHL season.

— Ilya Sorokin suffered a minor upper-body injury during summer training. He’s rolling. “We’re not worried about him missing the start of the season,” Lamoriello told the NHL club’s press service.

Sorokin has been with the Islanders since 2020. Last season, he played 57 NHL games, including the playoffs, and in the regular season, he stopped 90.9% of shots per game.

In the 2023-24 Stanley Cup, the Islanders lost the first round to Carolina with a score of 1-4.
