Canadian, three-time Stanley Cup winner Sydney Crosby has extended his contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, according to the NHL club’s website.
The 37-year-old forward’s new deal runs through the end of the 2026/27 season. The hockey player’s salary will remain at $8.7 million per year.
Crosby was selected first overall by Pittsburgh in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He won the Stanley Cup three times with the Penguins (2009, 2016, 2017).
Crosby ranks 10th in NHL scoring with 1,596 points (592 goals and 1,004 assists) in 1,272 games. The forward has averaged at least a point per game in each of his 19 NHL seasons, a feat Wayne Gretzky has never before accomplished.
Crosby is a member of the Triple Gold Club. As a member of the Canadian team, he became a two-time Olympic champion and also won the world championship.
